The BMW i3 was ahead of its time when it was first released in 2013 and it is still a good EV to drive today as it has quick acceleration, good handling and plenty of BMW's technology like the intuitive iDrive satnav. Ours is the second generation model with the larger 33kWh battery and the Range Extender which runs a small petrol generator to extend the electric range from 120 to 200 miles if necessary for longer trips. Most of the time you will run it as a pure EV and it charges quickly on rapid CCS chargers (26 minutes for 10->80%) with the REx helping to alleviate any "range anxiety".
The car comes with a slow charging cable that plugs into a regular 13A socket and a fast charging cable for plugging into public 7kW or 11kW chargers. Rapid CCS chargers have a cable attached to the charger.
Our car is registered for 100% discount on the London Congestion Charge.
